Short biography
Arif Acaloğlu was born in 1956 in Kepenekçi/Borchali, Georgia. He completed the philology program at Baku State University. In 1982, he began working as a research associate at the Mythology Department of the Literature Institute. From 1983 to 1986, he pursued his Ph.D. studies in semiology at Tartu University, Estonia. He worked as a specialist in the Folklore Department and then as a lecturer at Baku State University from 1990. He served as an advisor at the Azerbaijani Presidency in 1992–1993. He taught at Istanbul Bilgi University's Russian Language Program and at the Department of Anthropology, Yeditepe University (2008–2019). His academic work covers mythology, folk literature, and the cultural heritage of Eurasian peoples. He has published two books and approximately 40 articles.
