Short biography
Ethem Sancak graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Business in 1976 and worked as a journalist between 1976 and 1978. He served as the representative for southeastern and eastern regions of the Workers' and Peasants' Party of Turkey (TİKP) and as its Diyarbakır Provincial Chair. Entering the healthcare and automotive industries, he founded Es Pharmaceutical Warehouse (1987), Esko Perfumery (1989), Hedef Pharmaceutical Warehouse (1993), and later acquired commercial and military vehicle manufacturer BMC. He was named 'Business Manager of the Year' (2001), 'Entrepreneur of the Year' (2005), and received the Grand National Assembly of Turkey's 'National Sovereignty Outstanding Service and Honor Award' (2007). He has served on the boards of Istanbul Modern, İKSV, and Okan University Advisory Board.
