Short biography
Prof. Dr. Günay Çifci completed his undergraduate studies at Yıldız University Department of Geophysics, his master's degree at Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology (DBTE), and his doctorate at Trieste University, Italy and DEU Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. He participated in UNESCO-supported Floating University Training through Research (TTR) cruises in 1991, 1995, 1996, 2000, and 2001. In 2001, he was a visiting researcher at Virginia Tech University's Department of Earth Sciences. Appointed full-time professor at DEU DBTE in 2003, he coordinated the Geophysics Seismic Laboratory (SeisLab) conducting gas hydrate and marine geology research between 2005–2018. He has served as a project partner coordinator in several EU and Horizon 2020 projects.
