Fikret Akfırat graduated from Sociology Department Hacettepe University, Ankara Turkey. He had a master’s degree in journalism at Ankara University. His master thesis was on “Transformations in Turkish tv broadcasting after 1990: The cases of CNN Turk and Fox TV”. He has been working as a journalist since 1995. Between 1995 and 2012, he worked as diplomacy correspondent for Aydınlık newspaper and Ulusal Kanal, then as Foreign News Editor, News Manager and Ankara Representative. He was the Chief of Ankara (capital city of Turkey) Bureau of Ulusal Kanal Television(National Channel) and Aydınlık Newspaper for 12 years. He is the Aydınlık Newspaper’s Chief of Aegean Bureau in Izmir since 2013. During his time as a journalist, his main focus was diplomacy and foreign news. His published works include numerous reports, interviews and articles on Turkish-American relations, the Kurdish issue, Iraq, Syria, Iran, US-Russian rivalry in Central Asia. He has also prepared and presented TV programs on strategy, domestic and foreign politics. He traveled more than once to China, Russia, Iraq, Northern Iraq, Iran and Syria. He attended several meetings about Belt and Road Initiative together with the experts and academicians form Chinese Social Sceince Academy and the universities at Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. Besides he had the chance of visiting Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomus Region, Urumchi, Khorgoz, Ili-Gulca. When ISIL captured Raqqa, he was in Damascus for an interview with the Syrian President. He made an interview with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in April 2013 at the Presidential Palace in Damascus which led to major repercussions in Turkey and internationally. He has written 2 books: The Puppet State, How the United States Founded Kurdistan (First Edition-2004, Second Edition-2007) and Erdogan's Syrian Expedition in 2015.
Mehmet Adnan Akfırat

Mr. Akfırat was born in 1957 in Gaziantep/ Nizip. He completed his B.A. in Economics at Boğaziçi University. He served at various platforms including management in press and broadcasting organizations. His articles was published in many newspapers and magazines. At the same time, he is Patriotic Party’s representative of the People’s Republic of China. He is also guest researcher at Shanghai University Center for Turkish Studies. He holds the presidency of executive board of Turkish Chinese Business Matching Center (TUCEM) which works coordinately with the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade. He is chairman of the Turkish-Chinese Business Development and Friendship Association which is founded by businessmen. At the same time, he provides so many private companies which are in service between Turkey and China consultancy service. He speaks advanced level of English and Chinese.
Mr. Ertan was born in 1954/ İstanbul. He graduated from METU Department of Electrical Engineering. He worked as an electronic engineer and researcher on the research vessel Piri Reis of DEU Institute of Marine Sciences and Technology and actively took part in more than thirty survey projects carried out in the seas surrounding Turkey in 1981-1986. He also took part in foundation of Unitek LTD and Teknogen A.Ş. He participated in offshore surveys/studies along the Blue Stream pipeline route on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Piri Reis LTD in 2005-2006. He is member of the Aegean Tourism Association, The Chamber of Electrical Engineers Central Energy Committee, Aegean Region Chamber of Industry Energy Commission and World Energy Council. He is also representative of the Aegean Region of Turkish-Chinese Business Development and Friendship Association. His articles, focus on renewable energy sources and especially biomass, energy from biomass and fuel from biomass, are published in various magazines and newspapers.
Asst. Prof. Efe Can Gürcan
Efe Can Gürcan is Associate Dean of Research and Development for the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Chair of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration and a faculty member in the Department of International Relations at İstinye University. He serves as Research Associate at the University of Manitoba’s Geopolitical Economy Research Group. Gürcan completed his undergraduate education in International Relations at Koç University. He received his master’s degree in International Studies from the University of Montréal and earned his PhD in Sociology from Simon Fraser University. He speaks English, French, Spanish. His publications include three books as well as more than 30 articles and book chapters on international development, international conflict and international institutions, with a geographical focus on Latin America and the Middle East. His latest book is Multipolarization, South-South Cooperation and the Rise of Post-Hegemonic Governance.
Hüseyin Haydar was born in 1956 in Trabzon. He studied economics and finance. He worked as a member of the editorial board and as a technical director in YAZKO’s (Writers and Translators Cooperative) Literature and Translation magazines. His first poetry collection, Acı Türkücü, won the 1981 Academy’s First Prize for Poetry. Later, many of his books were published and won national awards. He served as a member and visual director of the Ulusal Kanal Broadcasting Board and as a member of the Turkish Writers’ Union (TYS) Board. He prepared and presented the tv program titled Literature Front at Ulusal Kanal. He is a member of Patriotic Party Central Ruling Board and National Science Strategy Center. He has been publishing his poems every week in his column titled Poet's Toil in Aydınlık newspaper for ten years.
Assoc. Prof. Şiir Kılkış
Dr. Handan Konar
She graduated from the department of Translation & Interpreting Studies at Boğaziçi University in 2007. Then, with the purpose of studying the history and conceptualization of translation and textual production during the Ottoman Empire, she pursued her MA and her PhD in the department of Turkish Language and Literature at Boğaziçi University. Since 2019, she has been teaching Turkish and English at Shanghai University. Recently, she has assumed her new position as a post-doctoral fellow at Shanghai University with the aim of conducting research on Ottoman-China relations. In addition to her academic studies, she has been translating books and articles for various publishers.
Assoc. Prof. Uğur Murat Leloğlu
Mr. Leloğlu is an electronics engineer, graduated the most succesfull University in this field, METU (Middle East Technical University). He had his masters degree in electrical and electronics engineering in METU. He has been in the Turkish engineer team for making Turkish Satellite in London - UK. He had his PhD also in METU. Between 2004 – 2011 he was the director of state owned, TUBITAK UZAY (Turkish Sciences and Technology Corporation – Sky) Space Technologies Research Institute. Since 2011 He is an associate professor in METU Electronics Faculty.
Prof. Dr. Ufuk Tutan
Ufuk Tutan holds a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. in International Relations from Middle East Technical University (METU). He earned three master’s degrees, which include a degree in International Relations from Bilkent University, a degree in Science and Technology Policy Studies from METU, and a degree in Economics from the University of Utah. He completed his PhD in Economics at the University of Utah. He made research visits to the University of Sussex’s Science Policy Research Unit with the support of the British Council Chevening-TÜBİTAK Fellowship. Professor Tutan specializes in several areas of political economy: economic crises, developing countries, economic history, technology, and family-owned businesses.
Asst. Prof. Yang Chen
Yang Chen is Assistant Professor in the Department of History of Shanghai University’s College of Liberal Arts and Executive Director of the Center for Turkish Studies at Shanghai University. He has published two books about Turkey and several papers in journals such as World Religious Culture West Asia and Africa Arab World Research and China Social Science Today. His main areas of research are political Islamic movements in Turkey, party politics in Turkey, Turkey’s foreign policy, and China-Turkey relations.
