Mr. Yaşar graduated from Paris-Academi Arqueille Sorbonne in 1976, New York University in 1980 and the department of Business Administration and Finance at New York-Pace University in 1981. In the same year, he began to work in Yaşar Foreign Trade Company and he worked in various positions during 8 years. Between 1988 and 1996 he served as the CFO in Yaşar Holding Company and he also served as President of the Paint-Chemicals and Beverage Groups within the Holding. Between 1997 and 2000, he held the position of Board Chairperson and CEO of Otak-Desa and Desa Energy companies. In the year 2000, he served as chairperson of the Board of Directors of Izmir Technopark, BDS Business Development Company and Yüzey Construction Company. From 1991 to 1997, Selim Yaşar served in various roles at the Assembly of the Chamber of Industry of the Aegean Region (EBSO), as Chairperson, as President and as a member of the Board of Directors. He also spent four years as Deputy Chairperson of the Aegean Industry and Business Association (ESIAD) of which he is a founding member. After serving as Deputy Chairperson of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Council, and as a member of Karşıyaka Municipal Council from 2004 to 2009, Selim Yaşar then went on to participate in a number of non-governmental organizations, where he has continued his support. From March 2014 onwards, Selim Yaşar served as Chairperson of Desa Energy, Dyo Paint and Yaşar Birleşik Pazarlama. He has been Chairperson at Yaşar Foreign Trade Company and Yaşar Holding since April 2015.
