Caner Karavit
Biography

Caner Karavit was born in Edirne in 1960. He graduated from Istanbul Mimar Sinan University, Graphic Department, Master's Program in 1986. Between the years of 2003 and 2018, he was the head of MSGSU's Basic Education Department. He became a professor in the same department in 2009. He served as vice rector at MSGSU between 2010 and 2013. He held many Chinese cultural and artistic events during his tenure as Vice-Chancellor. He attended Tsinghua University Art and Design in China on a Hanban scholarship from 2007 to 2015 and worked at the Academy. He conducted research on Northern Wei art in Dunhuang, Yungang, Longmen, Binglingsi, and in Buddhist cave temples such as Maijishan, St. Petersburg, Tokyo, and Berlin. From 2013 to 2015, he took traditional Chinese painting lessons from the painter Hanshi Liu. Karavit's articles are published in international and national journals. He has published 5 books, 7 personal exhibitions, and earned 7 awards. Karavit's study fields are: Basic Art and Design Education, Traditional Chinese Painting, Far Eastern Art, and Comparative Eastern and Western Composition Theories.
